The wide, cylindrical form with a thick, rounded rim harks back to orangery pots, in which citrus trees were cultivated on the terraces of Provençal residences since the 17th century. Their proportion—low, stable, with a clearly defined rim—was dictated by the weight of the planted material and the necessity of seasonal relocation. This logic of form remains clear to this day.
